Admission Steps

Get ready to rev your engines! Blend your passion for cars with a hands-on experience in the ÑÇÖÞ²ÊƱ¹ÙÍø’s Automotive Service Technology Program. Your educational experience will go beyond the classroom and prepare you for the fast-paced, ever-changing automotive industry. This is a limited enrollment program that admits students in the fall semester.

  1. Apply to ÑÇÖÞ²ÊƱ¹ÙÍø and become a Golden Eagle: Fill out the free online form to Apply to ÑÇÖÞ²ÊƱ¹ÙÍø, then watch your email for your acceptance letter and instructions to get set up as a new student. 

  2. Take a mechanical reasoning test: All students interested in the Automotive Service Technology Program (ASTP) need to complete the mechanical reasoning test in the ÑÇÖÞ²ÊƱ¹ÙÍø Testing Center. You will need your ÑÇÖÞ²ÊƱ¹ÙÍø student ID number and a valid photo ID with you in order to take the test. This is a timed 12-minute test. You must arrive one hour before closing, so be sure to check the current ÑÇÖÞ²ÊƱ¹ÙÍø Testing Center hours of operation
    Students who live more than 1 hour away from either the Twin Falls or Burley campuses must contact Robyn Swainston to determine alternate testing locations. 

  3. Prepare for Registration: Make an appointment with an  to declare your major and get registration clearance.
  4. Prepare for additional required expenses:
    • Textbooks: $500
    • Tools: $1000--$4400 depending on quality and brand and preference
    • Course fees for whole program $190

     

    DO NOT purchase any of these items before you are officially accepted to the program!

  5. Meet with program manager: Schedule an appointment with program manager Robyn Swainston to discuss next steps.

  6. Secure a job: After your application is reviewed and accepted, you will need to secure a job with a local dealership where you will work through the duration of the program. Details will be covered during the program orientation.
